AIPG 2012 exam cheaters paper leakers

AIPG 2012 exam cheaters

AIPG 2012 is the Postgraduate Medical Entrance Exam of India for admission of doctors into Postgraduation Courses all over India(all the government medical colleges). This year, it was conducted on Sunday the 8th of January 2012.

Every year around 80,000 to 1,20,000 doctors who have completed their MBBS course write this exam for admission to various government colleges across India. This is conducted by AIIMS, one of the top medical colleges in the country.

But this year it was found that cheating had taken place in this exam with the help of high-end mobile phones, bluetooth headsets and skin-coloured, in-the-ear earphones.

The gang used mobile phone cameras(Nokia Lumia & Sony Ericcson Xperia) concealed in their long sleeved shirts to take photos of the question paper, and these photos were sent by GPRS connection to an email address. Their accomplices were waiting in a rented accomodation outside the exam centre to download and print these photos. Once they printed 23 pages of the question paper, they quickly took their car(Maruti Alto Car No. DL-3CBA-2575) to meet others at Pragati Maidan, Delhi. Their plan was to get the answers by referring Medical Books and the Internet and to relay the answers to the cheating ‘candidates’ who would pay them.

The cheating candidates were equipped with hidden mobile phones connected by bluetooth to miniature bluetooth headsets in skin-tone colours to make them unnoticeable. Some also had earphones stitched into the back of their shirt collars. Once the accomplices outside got the answers, they would call the candidates on their phones which would silently answer the call and they would be able to tell them the answers over their bluetooth headsets.

Luckily, the Delhi Police foiled their Evil Plan and atleast a part of the gang has been arrested. More arrests are likely

Various news agencies have been reporting this since yesterday (9th January 2012)

- Between 80,000 to 1,20,000 have written the AIPGMEE MD/MS 2012 exam, NOT just 12,000 as reported in the media.

- This exam is NOT for admission to AIIMS, it is CONDUCTED by AIIMS for admission to other colleges. AIIMS holds a separate exam every 6 months for admission to AIIMS MD/MS courses (it was on November 13th, 2011)

- There was a another cheating racket in the AIIMS MD/MS which was busted during the May 2011 session of the AIIMS exams.

Medical test racket unearthed in AIIMS, five arrested
9 Jan 2012, 1615 hrs IST, AGENCIES

Delhi Police today (January 9) claimed to have smashed a racket involving leak of post graduate medical entrance papers using bluetooth technology with the arrest of five youths, including a doctor and an MBBS student.

The gang, which charged Rs 25-35 lakh from aspirants, allegedly used a sophisticated software to email images of the question paper taken by two MBAs, posing as PG aspirants, using mobile phones and bluetooth concealed in their shirts.

The racket was smashed yesterday while the entrance test conducted by AIIMS for filling 50 per cent of PG seats in government medical colleges across the counrty was going on at 156 centres.

It all started with the arrest of a second year MBBS student in an Ujjain medical college Mohit Chaudhury (23), who, police claim, is the mastermind of the racket, from Pragati Maidan yesterday morning on a tip-off.

The other arrested were Dr Amit Puniya (23), who was appearing for the entrance test, two MBAs Kapil Kumar (27) and Krishan Pratap Singh (27) and Bhishma Singh (27), a graduate who allegedly helped the gang in using computers.

“Kumar and Singh filed applications for entrance tests posing as doctors and giving false MBBS registration numbers. They were alloted a centre in Sector 28, Noida. Both of them carried a mobile phone and a bluetooth stitched in their shirts.

“The mobiles were having a sophisticated software through which the photographs taken could be emailed. They took the photograph of the 23-page question booklet and forwarded the images to Chaudhury,” Ashok Chand, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), told reporters. Chand said within 30 minutes of the beginning of the exam, the question paper was out.

Chaudhury allegedly downloaded the images with the help of Bhishma Singh, Chand said, adding, he was on way to meeting his associates to solve the paper when he was apprehended by the police at Pragati Maidan. “The candidates were to receive the answers through mobile phones. They had minute ear phones fixed along with bluetooth concealed in the shirt. Punia was one of the candidates and was arrested,” he said.

Chand said each candidate was to pay Rs 25-35 lakh and the payment was to be made after they had been selected. In order to ensure they received the payment, the racketeers took in possession the original certificates of the candidates. There are five-six more candidates who had taken the help of the racket.

Chand said soon after Chaudhury’s arrest, a team was sent to the exam centre where his two associates were appearing for the entrance and arrested them. From there, Punia was also arrested. Another police team went to AIIMS where the original question paper was tallied with the one Chaudhury was possessing and found it was same.

Chand said it was Chaudhury who arranged the candidates for the exam. Kumar, who did MBA from Jamia Millia Islamia, was planning to do a PhD from a reputed institute while Singh did his MBA from IMT, Meerut after doing an MA in Public Administration. He said AIIMS officials were not involved in the racket.

The mobile phones were having software by which the photographs taken could be forwarded to a specific email ID.  They took photographs of questioned booklet and forwarded the images of all the pages of the question booklet to a specific email ID.  The same was downloaded and retrieved with the computer and help of a printer, at their premises.  Thereafter, Mohit Choudhary brought hard copy of this paper to Delhi and he was to inform correct answers to all his candidates through mobile phone.  The candidates were to receive the correct answer through the minute ear phones fixed in their ear.  To the candidates they provided specific kind of shirts. These shirts were containing a Bluetooth device in the collar of the shirt. They also provided minute earphones to all such candidates. One such candidate Dr. Amit Punia has been arrested.  More such candidates are being identified.

Each candidate was to pay Rs. 25 to 35 Lacs to the racketeers. The payment was to be paid after they had been selected.  In order to ensure they received the payment the racketeers took in their possession the original certificates of their candidates.

The Pursuit of Happyness and Lazyness by Randall Munroe

Have you seen the move “The Pursuit of Happyness” starring Will Smith and his real son ? If not, go watch it when you get the chance. But this article is not about Will Smith or his movie. This is about Randall Munroe.

Do you know who that is ? No ?

What about ?

Well, its one of the best webcomics I’ve seen in terms of ideas and geeky jokes that I like. Calvin and Hobbes is, and will ever has been my favourite, but this xkcd webcomic appeals to my technical side.

Now to the topic of discussion, “How do you read in bed ?”

This is what Randall Blagged,

The Pursuit of Laziness

Since I was a kid, I’ve been looking for the perfect way to read in bed. The ideal position would involve no sustained muscle effort, so I could just let my eyes drift shut as I read, without the book falling shut or my hand slipping or anything. One way is to sit up against something and hold the book on your lap, but that’s not great for falling asleep. So I usually end up reading on my side.

The problem is, you have to hold the book to see both pages, and in either case, you’re using some muscles to hold it where it is.

This has worked for most of my life, but it’s still not that ultimate relaxation.

However, I recently got a Kindle. I was intending to use it mainly as a mobile web browser, but I’ve surprised myself by using it to read an awful lot. And, with apologies to all the bibliophiles out there, I find the ergonomics better than a paperback. When snacking and reading, I can lay it flat on a table without the use of a book weight to hold it opened, and when lying in bed, I don’t have to keep moving it to read.

But it’s not perfect. There’s no way to hold it with a finger on the ‘next page’ buttons that doesn’t require a few muscles to hold it upright:

Either I work to hold my hand off the bed, or I awkwardly curl my fingers around it. Either way, it tips over if I relax my arm, even if it’s leaning against a pillow, and I’m startled awake by this:

I started to wonder if I could do even better. I got out of bed one night, went to the closet, and got a steel coat hanger and some pliers. After a few minutes of twisting, I created this:

Read on to find out WHAT IT IS …

Get more clarity from your LCD monitor by reversing the flow of Liquid Crystal

This tip is valid only for the newer LCD monitors. Older CRT monitors do not have the Liquid Crystal Display, so this method may be ineffective.

The science behind this is to reverse the flow of the Liuid Crystal of your LCD display so hat the polarisation of light is achieved at a shorter bandwidth and higher frequency, thus reducing the interference and diffraction at the crystal-air interface.

This leads to a lesser surface tension equivalent at the interface and the Gaussian distribution of polarity of light takes place at a higher peak leading to a better picture quality.

The monitor can be made to correct to the upright position by pressing

Ctrl – Alt – (Down Arrow)

Your New Viewing Experience

At YouTube, we’re always looking to improve the way you watch videos online. As part of that, today we’re excited to introduce our new page layout. Here are some tips for getting the most out of your new YouTube viewing experience:

Turn your monitor upside-down

Our internal tests have shown that modern computer monitors give a higher quality picture when put upside down—just like it’s best to rotate your mattress every six months. You might find that YouTube videos look better this way.

Tilt your head to the side

Imagine you have water in your ear and need to get it out. Tilt your head towards one shoulder and watch the video (gentle head-smacking on the opposite side is optional).

Move to Australia

As you probably know, everything in Australia is upside-down, so moving to Australia may provide you with a more natural YouTube viewing experience. (Note: If you live Down Under and the page is still upside-down for you, then we recommended moving to the northern hemisphere.)

Of course, if you prefer the way things used to be, just click the “I prefer the old-fashioned layout!” when watching a video.

Happy April 1st!
