Yahoo Photos is closing down! Yahoo! Photos is closing on October 18, 2007. Flickr is in ! Transfer your photos before it’s too late.

On the 16th June, 2007, Yahoo! Photos issued a press release stating that it would be terminating September 20, 2007 in order to focus their efforts on Flickr.

Yahoo! Photos has proposed a number of alternatives for customers who want to move their photos to other services.

What are my options if I want to keep my photos?

If you want to keep your photos (and we think most of you might), then you’ll need to go to http://closing.photos.yahoo.com to choose from a few options by September 20, 2007.

1. Move your photos: Select from among the photo sharing services offered (Flickr, Kodak Gallery, Shutterfly, Snapfish, and Photobucket) and they will move the photos for you. You’ll need to verify your Yahoo! account information and either create a new account or login with an existing account at that other service.

Note: You can only move your photos to 1 service!

2. Download: Go to each photo and select “Download” above the photo. Unfortunately we do not technically support the ability to download more than one photo at a time, but for many of you it won’t take much time to download your favorites.

3. Buy an archive CD (for users of the New Yahoo! Photos only): Select the archive CD option, verify your Yahoo! account information, and begin creating a CD of your photo collection, at the original uploaded resolution. Our partner Englaze will be offering discounted pricing of $6.95 for 700Mb of photos.

For those that are interested, it is possible to choose all three of these options. However, once you’ve moved to another service you’ll no longer be able to access your Yahoo! Photos account and thus you will no longer be able to download or buy an archive CD. If you are interested in choosing all three options, you must download or buy an archive CD before moving your photos to another service.

Several independent users have derived alternative solutions for migration of their photographs uploaded at Yahoo! Photos, namely: Download Hi Resolution Yahoo! Photos by Rohit Sud, Download Yahoo! Photos by Kent Brewster, and Yahoo! Photos Grabber by Yandao.com

Orkut.com - the social networking site of Google. It has become famous - popluar enough to have viruses run specifically for it !

But the problem I address here is that Orkut asks me to install missing plugins.

That Additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page.

Click here to download plugin even.

When I do click it takes me to the Plugin Finder Service ( I’m using Mozilla Firefox) and tells me to install Adobe Flash Player (Macromedia was bought by Adobe)

But first !

Why does Orkut need flash player anyway ? There are no flash animations of any thing like that in Orkut , right !

Well, if you look at the code carefully, you’ll find some flash at the friends list and the testimonials - userdata.swf

What does it do ? Why is it there ? Find out ! And tell me …
