This tip is valid only for the newer LCD monitors. Older CRT monitors do not have the Liquid Crystal Display, so this method may be ineffective.

The science behind this is to reverse the flow of the Liuid Crystal of your LCD display so hat the polarisation of light is achieved at a shorter bandwidth and higher frequency, thus reducing the interference and diffraction at the crystal-air interface.

This leads to a lesser surface tension equivalent at the interface and the Gaussian distribution of polarity of light takes place at a higher peak leading to a better picture quality.

The monitor can be made to correct to the upright position by pressing

Ctrl – Alt – (Down Arrow)

Your New Viewing Experience

At YouTube, we’re always looking to improve the way you watch videos online. As part of that, today we’re excited to introduce our new page layout. Here are some tips for getting the most out of your new YouTube viewing experience:

1

Turn your monitor upside-down

Our internal tests have shown that modern computer monitors give a higher quality picture when put upside down—just like it’s best to rotate your mattress every six months. You might find that YouTube videos look better this way.

2

Tilt your head to the side

Imagine you have water in your ear and need to get it out. Tilt your head towards one shoulder and watch the video (gentle head-smacking on the opposite side is optional).

3

Move to Australia

As you probably know, everything in Australia is upside-down, so moving to Australia may provide you with a more natural YouTube viewing experience. (Note: If you live Down Under and the page is still upside-down for you, then we recommended moving to the northern hemisphere.)

Of course, if you prefer the way things used to be, just click the “I prefer the old-fashioned layout!” when watching a video.

Happy April 1st!

A new mobile phone application has launched that promises to let you see where you are going while you are looking at your phone.

Called TXT’N'WALK the application, which is available on the iPhone, Blackberry, S60 and Android operating systems will use the camera found on the back of your phone to show you the pavement in front of you while you access your email or the web on your phone.

“We found that lots of people look at their phones while they are walking”, said a spokesman for the company Looflirpa who makes the app. “This way you can do so without the fear of walking into someone – or a lamppost”.

The app, which will be available by the end of the week from the relevant platform’s download stores will cost £2.99 in the UK and $4.99 in the US.

The need for the TXT’N'WALK app is clearly answering an as-yet untapped demand. In a recent poll on Pocket-lint, 56% of people said that they checked their mobile phone whilst walking around.

Did you make a Powerpoint presentation in Microsoft Office 2007 with absolutely fantastic animations and mind boggling themes ? Then did you take it to another computer, ready to stun the entire audience with your brilliant presentation skills ?

Then what happened ?

Here are a few examples.

Jon Doe : I made an excellent presentation spending hours and hours. It was so good, I thought it was the best presentation I ever made. i used MS Office 2007 at home. When I finally took it to my class for the seminar presentation, it PowerPoint file just refused to open. I double clicked and it said ” Open With” and a dialog box came up asking me to choose the program to open this type of file ( .pptx )

The Cure

Bookmark this page FundaZone – Ideas, Tips and tricks on gadgets

Use this free software ” Powerpoint 2007 Viewer” (pptx file opener)

Download free Powerpoint 2007 pptx viewer software

With this software, you can open Powerpoint files made in Office 2007 in any computer (including Linux, Ubuntu, Kubuntu if you have Wine software)

It is an absoltely free software and just needs to be downloaded and installed in administrator mode ( main computer user mode )

Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer allows you to view full-featured presentations created in PowerPoint 97 or later versions.

The PowerPoint Viewer also supports opening password-protected Microsoft PowerPoint presentations.

Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer is a small application that enables PowerPoint users to share their presentations with people who do not use PowerPoint for Windows.

The PowerPoint Viewer allows users to view and print presentations exactly as they were created in the original program.

More download links

Some links might give faster download sppeds than others, so if you are in a hurry, try each link to see which is faster, so you still have time to rehearse your presentation. All the best for your presentation !!

Have you ever wondered just how fast your network connection is? Not just how fast the modem is connected at, but how much data you can actually get? Does your internet connection sometimes seem slower than normal? Forget hacking the registry or using counter-intuitive tools to get the information you want – enter the world of AnalogX NetStat Live (NSL)! NSL is a small, easy to use TCP/IP protocol monitor which can be used to see your exact throughput on both incoming and outgoing data – whether you’re using a modem, cable modem, DSL, or even local network! NSL doesn’t just stop there, it lets you see how quickly your data goes from your computer to another computer on the internet; it even will tell you how many other computers your data must go through to get there! But wait – there’s more! NSL also graphs your CPU usage of your system! This can be especially useful in identifying if your computer is what’s slowing things down, or if it’s your internet connection.

Well, its as good as it says. NetStat shows the current, average and maximum speed of your incoming and outgoing connections. It’s free and quick to download.

It even has a Tray Icon and a minimizes to tray. But the part I didn’t like was that it had to be installed. That caused an error in installation because I was not in administrator mode in this computer. And it doesn’t show your IP address if you are behind a proxy server.

It could also have been better with a stay on top option, but still it’s quite a neat little software to have around.

Download this handy software from  NetStat Live    (click here to download)

Tip : To install a software when not in administrator account, changing the installation directory from C:\Program files to anything else ( D:\Program files )Â might work.

The latest wordpress update was out 2 days back, and I just finished updating.

If you need help in upgrading your version of wordpress, it is available at the wordpress.org official site.

Anyway, you just deactivate all plugins ( to be safe) , replace the old files with the new files, and then run the upgrade.php file

Here is the help from the wordpress site

  Three Step Upgrade

These are the short instructions, if you want more check out the extended upgrade instructions.

For these instructions, it is assumed that your blog’s URL is
http://example.com/wordpress/
. Note that during the upgrade process access to your blog may not work for your visitors. You may consider a plugin like Maintenance Mode.

Step 0: Before You Get Started

Just in case something goes wrong, make sure you have a backup. WordPress_Backups is a comprehensive guide.

Deactivate your plugins. A plugin might not be compatible with the new version, so it’s nice to check for new versions of them and deactivate any that may cause problems. You can reactivate plugins one-by-one after the upgrade.

  Step 1: Replace WordPress files

Get the latest WordPress. Either download and extract it to your computer or download it directly to the server.

Copy the new files to your server, overwriting old files. You may use FTP or shell commands to do so.

NOTEÂ Â The
wp-content
folder requires special handling, as do the
plugins
and
themes
folders. You must copy over the contents of these folders, not the entire folder. Copying the entire folder overwrites all your customizations and added content.

Also take care to preserve the wp-config.php file in the root directory, as it contains your database sign-in information. Do note though that usually this will not be a problem since in a new installation the config file will be named wp-config-sample.php.

  Step 2: Upgrade your installation

Visit the upgrade page. It will be at a URL like
http://example.com/wordpress/wp-admin/upgrade.php
. This updates your database to be compatible with the latest code, and before you do this your blog might look funny.

Step 3: Do something nice for yourself

If you have caching enabled, your changes will appear to users more immediately if you clear the cache at this point (and if you don’t, you may get confused when you see the old version number in page footers when you check to see if the upgrade worked).

Your WordPress installation is successfully upgraded. That’s as simple as we can make it without Updating WordPress Using Subversion.

Consider rewarding yourself with a blog post about the upgrade, reading that book or article you’ve been putting off, or simply sitting back for a few moments and let the world pass you by.

  Troubleshooting

If anything has gone wrong the first thing to do is go through all the steps in our extended upgrade instructions. That page also has information about some of the most common problems we see.
